Update

There have been several recent shoots & news that haven't been reported on this blog.  The shoots have been a mixture of Dark Art, family/personal shoots for clients & model photoshoots.  Samples from some of the shoots are now available to view on my website and on the Facebook page.

The Dark Art line has officially been launched, with several horror media sites picking up the press release and spreading the word!  The line will be appearing at multiple art exhibits, horror conventions, etc.  So far it's confirmed to be appearing in Cambridge, ON (Canada), Newport, KY & St. Petersburg, FL.  Possible future announcements include NY, Orlando, FL & South Africa - keep an eye on the Events page to see all show confirmations as they're posted.

The Dark Art of April A Taylor Photography (Press Release)

Internationally published and exhibited photographer April A Taylor has always leaned towards the dark & gritty with her work; exploring forgotten places, ghost towns & abandoned buildings. Now she has combined this style of photography with her life-long love affair with Halloween, horror and all of the things that go bump in the night. The Dark Art of April A Taylor Photography is a new line of images, many told through the usage of Illustrative Photography, which feature lots of blood, gas masks, frozen corpses, zombies & post-apocalyptic themes.

Selected prints from the line will be exhibited throughout the next couple of months at multiple places, including the following:

•Twisted & Talented: Halloween and Dark Art Exhibit at the Art on the Levee Gallery in Newport, KY, for the entire month of October 2010
•Gallery of Horror Art Show at Haunted Fresno in Fresno, CA, for the entire month of October 2010
•Fear 7 Exhibit at the Art Bar Riverwest in Milwaukee, WI, October 15th – November 4th
•Necronomicon Horror Convention Dark Art Exhibit in St. Petersburg, FL, October 22nd-24th

The artist will also be appearing with the Dark Art line at the following Horror Conventions:

•Dark Woods Con in Lebanon, KY, October 1st-3rd
•Carnival of Fright Horror Convention in Hudson Valley, NY, October 30th-31st
•HorrorHound Weekend in Cincinnati, OH, November 12th-14th

Aspiring Model Photoshoot

This past weekend I did several photoshoots, including one with an aspiring model who has a unique look:

I feel truly fortunate to be able to do shoots with such a wide variety of people and to offer people the opportunity to try out their dreams.  I wish her the best of luck in reaching her goals!

April A Taylor Photography is headed to San Diego Comic-Con!

Photoshoots are available in the Gaslamp area (July 20th - 25th).  Also, a print will be available to view (and purchase) at this year's Comic-Con International Art Show (located in Sails Pavilion).

Travel Notice - San Diego, CA July 20th - 25th

I'll be in San Diego (Gaslamp area) from July 20th-25th and am booking photoshoots.  If you'll be in town for Comic-Con this is a great opportunity to get photos that actually make you look like a superhero in the city (as opposed to the typical snapshots that are taken).  Shoots are, of course, not just limited to Comic-Con attendees in costume.  I have experience with bands, models, promotional shoots, illustrative photography, etc.  Slots are limited and are filling up fast so if you're interested, contact me today.

Loss of Innocence Photoshoot

Today I had the opportunity to return to my darker, illustrative photography roots.  Loss of Innocence (brought to life by model Kayce) is a social commentary about the current state of Detroit and how it got to where it is today.  Here is one example from the shoot:

Northville Gallery Show

Last night was great and had quite the memorable ending thanks to mother nature.  The show ended early due to a huge storm that came through, accompanied by hail, tornado sirens and a widespread power outage.  Even with the inclement weather, though, there was quite a large turnout and I met several nice people who enjoy my work, which is always a good way to spend an evening.  I'd like to thank everyone who stopped by and especially those of you who made it a point to meet me.
